Can't believe it is heading toward the end of January already! Last night was our monthly Fair Board meeting and actually, we got a lot accomplished! Having just returned from the Ohio Fair Manager's Convention we shared our ideas of the seminars we all attended. Got some new ideas for 2012; one of which I can't wait to share with you.
Usually during the fair we have a "kids day". Well, we are going to have "Family Night" when everyone in the family will be able to purchase their own individual wrist band for a discounted price. That evening will be geared around family--no, I'm not going to tell you all the details yet, but there you have just a bit of it. Dan Bullen and Triple Treat (our ride/games vendor) came up with the idea that most parents work and aren't able to attend the daytime activities with their kids. So, having a family night allows dad and mom to get home, pick up the kids and head to the fairground for an evening of fun. Keep watching (and listening) for more information.
Something Old yet new on the entertainment: The demo derby will be alive and well this year (so guys and gals get those cars ready) and this year the prize money has been increased. More information on that later. Just preparin' you for some good stuff to come.l
Also new on the entertainment will be Jessie Brown-a rising young star that Amy heard at the convention. She believes you will want to come and see Jessie on Thursday night at the entertainment center. Kevin Reed has contacted the Strong Men again and they'll be here on Saturday-don't want to miss that one. Cheerleading will be back again as well as the Sunday special--the Calf Scramble. This year there may be an added treat-we'll see.
If you remember our wood-carver with the chain saw? He will be back--can't wait for this one, he does great work and enjoys every moment of swinging that chain saw. I just like to watch his masterful carvings! Jeff Barr tells me that Lazer tag has been contacted and it looks favorable for them to be here as well.
Listent to this! At the convention Saturday is named "Youth Day". Well, our Greene County Junior Fair Board are the best! They came in smiling and encouraging and made the Senior Fair Board proud! (If you know a Jr. Fair Board member, ask them about the fellow who joined them for pizza-if you don't know a Jr. Fair Board member, ask Mark Everman-where there's food there's Mark. Mark does a fantastic impression of this fellow. I am not going to spoil the story--just ask. Our youth attended sessions geared to their part of the fair, and obviously they came home ready to get involved in the 2012 fair. Thank you for taking an entire Saturday of your time to come to Columbus and learn some new stuff!
That's it for now...I have lots more to share, but until next time we visit--just know how much I look forward to sharing some time with you. Wish we could sit and have a cup of caffine--I mean coffee--some days I really need it, don't you?
